Flannel Farms Market Shares

The summer of 2012 went so fast and it was the most enjoyable summer of my life. Starting Flannel Farms has been amazing, I have made new friends and learned about growing and selling vegetables. My primary outlet was the Poland Farmer’s Market behind the library on South Main Street. It was great to see a new market bring in 300-400 people per week. I’m expecting a lot of growth in the future.

Plans for securing land for an urban farm are also in the works. That plan has taken longer than expected, so I will be very excited to update everyone with the details when further development happens.

Because of how successful my small market garden was, Flannel Farms will be increasing production to around half an acre. To help get all of this delicious produce onto dinner tables, the Flannel Farms Market Share. The Market Share will be a weekly share of fresh produce from the farm. Shareholders pay in advance for their weekly box to help diffuse the upfront costs of agriculture. Because of varying vegetable preference and family size, Flannel Farms Market Shares will have several different size.

Family Share – 8-10 items per week. Example: 2 bags salad, 2 bunches cooking greens, 2 bunches herbs, 1 root vegetable, 1 vining vegetable, 2 vegetables of the week. $25 per week ($375 for 15 week season)

Family Greens Share Р5-7 items per week. Example: 2 bags salad mix, 2 bunches cooking greens, 2 bunches herbs, 1 vegetable of the week (Cucumbers, beans,  tomatoes, carrots, or squash) depending on the week. $17 per week ($255 for 15 week season)

Individual Greens Share Р3-5 items per week. Example: 1 bag salad mix, 1 bunch cooking greens, 1 bunch herbs, 1 vegetable of the week. (Cucumbers, beans,  tomatoes, carrots, or squash) depending on the week. $12 per week ($180 for 15 week season)

Because Flannel Farms is still very small, shares are extremely limited. Flannel Farms Market Share will start the first week of July and run through mid-October for a total of 15 weeks.

Distribution РTo help build a community among Flannel Farms customers, pick up will be weekly at the farm. (Near White House Fruit Farm on Western Reserve Rd. Canfield, OH.) If this is not possible, a weekly delivery can be arranged with a fee of $2-5 depending on location.

More details to come, if you are interested please leave a comment or flannelfarms@gmail.com. We would be more than happy to work with you to grow exactly what you want!
